Speculative Bid (Excellent Art), who had finished
runner-up at Kempton Park, handled the testing
conditions well and ran out a comfortable winner on his
fifth start. He is a half-brother to the useful seven-time
winner Arch Villian (Arch) and the fairly useful winner
Thubiaan (Dynaformer), out of the Listed Lingfield Park
Oaks Trial runner-up Barzah (Darshaan), who is the best
of two winners from four runners out of the El Gran Senor
mare Lepikha, a winner as a three-year-old. Lepikha is a
half-sister to the Gr.3 Horris Hill Stakes and Gr.3 Prix de
Barbeville winner and sire Glacial Storm (Arctic Tern),
who was also second in the Gr.1 Derby and third in the
Gr.1 Irish Derby, the Listed Cheshire Oaks winner and dual
US Gr.3-placed Chaudennay (Assert; dam of the US Gr.3
